Confocal Raman Microscope – WITec alpha300 Apyron
The CMEH at the University of Exeter provides access to a WITec alpha300 Apyron confocal Raman microscope for non-destructive chemical imaging, material characterisation and molecular analysis.
The system combines high-resolution microscopy with Raman spectroscopy and offers 532 nm, 633 nm and 785 nm excitation lasers, making it suitable for a wide range of geological, mineralogical, materials, recycling and archaeological applications.
Key Features
- Automated confocal Raman imaging
- 532, 633 and 785 nm excitation lasers
- 5× to 100× microscope objectives
- ParticleScout for automated particle detection, classification and analysis
- WITec TrueMatch software for Raman spectral identification
- Access to the T. Japan Raman spectral library
- Support for custom spectral databases and common formats including RRUFF
The CMEH Raman facility can support the characterisation of minerals, geological materials, synthetic and industrial materials, recycled materials and archaeological specimens.
Analytical and Consultancy Support by CMEH
Where required, consultancy and data interpretation support can also be provided by relevant subject-matter specialists within Camborne School of Mines (CSM), This may include interpretation of sensors data and integration with other geological, mineralogical and materials characterisation techniques.
